Here’s something you don’t hear everyday – We’re being framed… and we’re happy about it!
What you see here is installation of the framework for our new garage bay doors facing North Mangum St. The overhead doors will be installed by Custom Overhead Doors of Raleigh, and will mimic their snazzy glass-paneled predecessors of the 1950’s.
Between the ’50s and today the glass bay doors fell out of use and into an identity crisis. One of them was converted into a store-front display window. The other fell into disrepair, leading to a series of perfunctory and unattractive “fix-its” of paint and plywood.
Our design plans for the food hub meant demolishing the window and removing the low-functioning garage door, making way for the framing and eventually the new doors themselves.
