Our surprising-find bathroom with a sordid history has gone through serious renovations to be all it can be. Starting out as a dusty and dirty hole in the wall, it’s now a stunning and very open space.
(Prepare yourself. I’m about to over-use the word “vintage.”)
The vintage brick walls reach up to high ceilings, where shiny new pendant lights hang. The vintage periwinkle tiles that lined the walls have been re-set into a bold border that runs the perimeter of the room. And that glistening beadboard is vintage, too.
The beadboard actually comes from a residential rehab project of Reinvestment Partners’ – 1218 N Roxboro St. From the same time period as 902 N Mangum St – and not in the plans for 1218’s renovations – we transplanted the beadboard into the food hub. What you see is the reverse side of the board that’s been beautifully finished by carpenter Scott Taylor.
Last, but not least, the floor has been newly decorated with tiny black-and-white tiles that stretch from wall to wall. All in all, it’s a unique and colorful combination!
