Bull City Cool is committed to keeping North Carolina veggies cool, in all senses of the word. And what better way to do that than with a 24-foot refrigerated truck?
Patrick of Seal the Seasons picked up this new-to-us truck in Boston last week, and drove it home to Bull City Cool. The truck, like the food hub itself, will be a shared resource for all of Bull City Cool’s tenants. This time thanks goes to the USDA Rural Business Development Grant, which funded the trucks’ purchase… something that none of Bull City Cool’s in-house partners could have afforded on their own.
What this means is Farmer Foodshare will be able to collect fresh produce – like lettuce – from family farms in Eastern North Carolina and transport it without spoilage. Say “goodbye” to wilted leaves!
The truck can also go to low enough temperatures to allow our tenants with frozen foods, such as Seal the Seasons, to transport frozen North Carolina fruits from the Hub to buyers around the state.
What a great extension of Bull City Cool!
