When I joined Reinvestment Partners in early 2012, Executive Director Peter Skillern already had his eye on 902 N Mangum St. It was, at the time, a thrift store with very little business and even less curb appeal.
In case you’ve forgotten what it looked like a few years ago, here’s a quick (and ugly) reminder.
Through many negotiations and metamorphoses of business ideas Peter decided to pursue a food hub that would offer a grocery list – no pun intended – of benefits to local and state-wide communities. But we needed money to make it happen.
Thanks to a grant from BB&T for pre-development and acquisition expenses, we were able to take some of those first steps towards making our vision a reality. BB&T also provided a mortgage for the property.
It’s always easier to jump on the bandwagon than to help build it… Thanks to BB&T for supporting the food hub before it was Cool.
