Bull City Cool finds ourselves (were we lost?) making headlines again!
This time Wellness Warrior’s Damon Cory-Watson explores what makes us a food hub in his compelling article “Bull City Cool in Durham, North Carolina— the Future of Food?”
This short excerpt makes a great “elevator speech” to answer the question we hear most frequently, “What is a food hub exactly?”
If we were to break down a food hub into its two separate parts, BCC is simply the ‘hub’—they maintain the facility and attract the right food people, essentially functioning as a landlord. This then allows the ‘food’ part to flourish as the food people can just focus on their important work… It’s almost like BCC is crafting a dream team for building the local food system, right there in a small corner of Durham.
Cory-Watson later goes on to describe Bull City Cool’s role in the local food network as “a place for the magic to happen.”
I think our work here is done! We’re making magic – it doesn’t get any better than that. Really, our elevator speech has just changed. Let’s practice…
You say, “What is a food hub exactly?”
We’ll say, “Where the magic happens!”
