Bull City Cool is the food hub with fresh veggies, and fresh conversation! We’re in the business of facilitating and fostering discussion around healthy food and hunger in Durham and across the state. That’s why we hosted 25 participants from 17 agencies on January 28th at the hub – all of whom work on food security issues – for an open discussion of the food supply chain.
Facilitated by Community Food Lab of Raleigh, the meeting was designed to build on the momentum of the End Hunger Now movement in Durham, led by Betsy Crites. During 2015, End Hunger Now organized a series of community meetings that engaged the broader community in a discussion on needs and solutions to address hunger.
Community Food Lab provided research and maps during the meeting to help participants understand the food supply chain in the nonprofit sector. Participants in turn identified gaps in the delivery system and offered possible solutions to better provide food to those in need. Bull City Cool plans on continuing these conversations and assisting to build the infrastructure and cooperative capacity of Durham, to the benefit of End Hunger Now.
Financial support for the event was provided by Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and Reinvestment Partners – founder of Bull City Cool.
