We find ourselves in a love-hate relationship with construction of our ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps. We love to make the Bull City Cool Food Hub accessible to one and all by installing these ramps. We hate the logistics of their construction.
Since the love half is pretty clear, let me elaborate more on the hate half. As with most things that fall under “compliance,” there’s a lot of red tape to wade through… and grasp at desperately like an unexpected spider web… or that one hair that tickles your face and takes you way too long to find.
Examples? ADA-compliant ramps require an engineer’s letter and inspection before you even pour the concrete. Plus it’s just straight-up tedious work.
Good thing we have A2Z Contractors, who’ve been working from dusk to dawn getting us ready to turn this rubble into ramps.
