On March 19, 2014, Bull City Cool, LLC, purchased this property with the intention of converting it into a local food hub. The hub will serve consumers in the greater Durham area by aggregating, storing, and distributing fresh produce from local farmers.
Bull City Cool was founded in March 2014 by local non-profit, Reinvestment Partners. This project is part of their ongoing mission to revitalize this old North Durham neighborhood. Once renovated, the food hub will house both for-profit and non-profit businesses, bringing both healthy food and bustle to this neighborhood-in-transition and to Durham at large.
This historic building has sported many different faces over the years. Since it’s beginning it has served as, among other things, a gasoline and service station, an aluminum siding company, a thrift store, a hair salon and is currently the home of Annfer Used Tires.
But just as bringing new business to this area is important, it is just as important that the existing tenant benefit from our efforts. Bull City Cool is currently working with the owner and operator of Annfer Used Tires to relocate and possibly expand their business.
